Our Story
I used to burn incense fairly often, but over time I lost interest. Most scents didn’t do much for me, there was really only one I liked and it started to feel more like a habit than something I enjoyed.
On a trip to Japan I discovered Horikawa – River Path by Shoyeido. The moment I tried it, I realized incense could be subtle, layered, and clean. I wanted more, but I quickly found there weren’t many ways to buy good quality Japanese incense in Australia.
That’s when I decided to start Kōdō House. I wanted to make it easier for Australians to access incense that’s carefully made, authentic, and enjoyable, incense that doesn’t rely on smoke or artificial strength to make an impression.
We work with artisans who have spent generations perfecting their craft, bringing scents that are thoughtful, balanced, and designed to enhance your space and daily rituals.
