At a Glance: Agarwood (Jinko) - Dark Woods - Soft Resin Depth - Earthy Sweetness - Light Smoke - Calm - Reflective

Main Notes / Character:
A soft approachable agarwood (jinko) profile that leans dark and woody without becoming heavy or overly complex. The opening is dry and slightly earthy, with a gentle resin sweetness that emerges as it burns. It remains smooth with low smoke keeping the darker tones from becoming dense or overpowering. Compared to sandalwood-based Karaku styles, this has more depth with a quieter, more introspective feel suited to reflection or evening use.

History / Lineage:
Jinko Karaku is part of Yamadamatsu’s Karaku daily incense series from Kyoto, a long-established incense house with roots in Edo-period fragrance and medicinal wood traditions. The Karaku line is designed for everyday use, offering simplified, low-smoke interpretations of classic Japanese incense materials such as sandalwood and aloeswood.

Meaning behind the Name:
“Jinko” (沈香) is aloeswood, one of the most valued materials in traditional Japanese incense culture. “Karaku” (華洛) is Yamadamatsu’s daily incense line, focused on simple, accessible expressions of classical incense materials for everyday enjoyment.
