The opening is gentle and slightly powdery, with a “fresh breeze” quality that keeps the scent light rather than heavy or resinous. As it settles, it stays smooth with soft woody notes underneath and a calm, almost clean-room feel. Compared to the deeper Karaku expressions, Seifu is the most open and atmospheric. Its less grounded, more airy and diffused, designed for quiet background burning rather than intensity. 

History / Lineage:
Seifu Karaku is part of Yamadamatsu’s Karaku daily incense range from Kyoto, a house established in the Edo period and known for its long-standing tradition of blending natural woods like sandalwood and aloeswood. The Karaku series is designed for everyday use, simple, approachable incense that reflects traditional Japanese fragrance culture in a modern, low-smoke form. 

Meaning behind the Name:
“Seifu” (清風) means “clear breeze” or “fresh wind,” reflecting its light, airy character. “Karaku” (華洛) refers to the daily incense line from Yamadamatsu, focused on accessible interpretations of traditional Japanese materials in a calm, everyday style.
