Shirakawa - White River
Description
At a Glance: Warm sandalwood - Sweet vanilla & amber - Soft & resinous - Clean, comforting and gentle
Main Notes / Character:
Shirakawa features a bright, smooth sandalwood base with subtle sweetness and just a touch of spice. The scent is soft, airy, and comforting, filling a space without overpowering it. Compared to Horikawa, there’s no cinnamon, giving Shirakawa a fresher, cleaner character.
History / Lineage:
Shirakawa is inspired by the gentle river that flows past Kyoto’s temples and quiet neighbourhoods. Within the Horin range, it is often seen as the cleaner, lighter companion to Horikawa.
Meaning behind the Name:
“Shirakawa” (白川) means “White River,” symbolising purity, clarity, and quiet, flowing stillness.
