Shukohkoku

History / Lineage: Shukohkoku (聚香國, sometimes “Syukohkoku”) is one of Baieido’s premium meditation-style incenses. According to Baieido’s own line-up, it sits above even the highest-rank traditional incense from the Kobunboku line, using select agarwood and sandalwood blended with herbs, spices and resins. 

Main Notes / Character: Predominantly Vietnamese aloeswood (agarwood) and Indian sandalwood, combined with herbal and resinous notes (such as patchouli, cassia, benzoin, and other traditional incense herbs/spices). The result is elegant, refined, subtly sweet and woody, not overbearing, but with a depth and longevity that makes it suitable for meditation, contemplative practices or relaxed evening use. 

Meaning behind the Name: “Shukohkoku” (聚香國) roughly translates to “Gathering (or Nation) of Fragrant Countries/Incenses.” The name reflects the idea of bringing together fine incense materials from many lands (woods, herbs, resins), a melange of traditional incense heritage in one refined blend.
