Main Notes / Character: A deeper, richer expression of the original. High-grade aloeswood leads with a slightly bitter, woody depth, supported by creamy sandalwood. Traditional spices (clove, cassia, patchouli) and resins add warmth and complexity. Compared to standard Shukohkoku it is fuller, smoother, and more cohesive with a lingering temple style finish. 

History / Lineage: Tokusen Shukohkoku is the premium grade of Baieido’s Shukohkoku, produced by Baieido in Sakai. It follows the same traditional formula but with a higher proportion of select Vietnamese aloeswood, reflecting over 300 years of incense blending practice and a clear step up in material quality. 

Meaning behind the Name: “Tokusen” means “specially selected,” indicating elevated materials, while “Shukohkoku” (“Gathering of Fragrant Lands”) reflects a blend of woods, herbs, and resins sourced across regions, here presented in a more concentrated and refined form.
