Traditional Incense Censer

Miyako Ash Included

W 7.0cm x H 8.2cm

This Kōro is handcrafted by Kyoto's historic Rokubei Kiln, one of Japan's most distinguished ceramic workshops. Established in 1771, the kiln has been guided by eight generations of the Shimizu family, blending centuries of traditional craftsmanship with modern artistic expression. Inspired by single droplet falling onto the waters surface, it offers an elegant and traditional way to enjoy Japanese incense.

A Kōro (香炉) is a traditional Japanese incense burner designed for use with Miyako ash, a fine white ash made from rice husks. The ash is left loose and uncompacted, creating a soft, airy bed that allows oxygen to circulate freely. This supports the incense stick as it burns, enabling it to burn evenly from start to finish while leaving little to no waste.
